Masahiro Mae is an assistant professor at Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Systems, Graduate School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo. He received the B.E. degree in electrical and electronic engineering (2018), the M.S. degree in advanced energy (2020), and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering and information systems (2023) from the University of Tokyo. Prior to his current position, he was a visiting researcher at the Technische Universität Ilmenau (Germany, 2018) and at Eindhoven University of Technology (The Netherlands, 2021–2022). From 2021 to 2023, he was also a research fellow at Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Japan. His research interests include multivariable control and data-driven optimization for industrial mechatronics and energy systems. Masahiro Mae is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan, the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers, the Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan, and the Japan Society of Energy and Resources.
Ryuji Matsuhashi earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the Department of Electronics, Faculty of Engineering, the University of Tokyo in 1985, and a Doctor of Engineering in 1990 from the same department. He became an Associate Professor at the Department of Geosystem Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, the University of Tokyo in 1994 after serving as the Research Associate of the same from 1990 to 1993. Next, he became an Associate Professor at the Institute of Environmental Studies, Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, The University of Tokyo, in 1999. Next, he became a Professor at the same institute of the University of Tokyo, and has been since 2003. Then, he became a Professor at the Electrical Engineering and Information Systems, Graduate School of Engineering at the same university, in 2011. His intensive work in the analysis of energy systems and global environmental issues produced various books and papers. He is currently a member of the Japan Society of Energy and Resources, the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan, and the Japan Institute of Energy. His research interests include energy and environmental systems.
