Author Biographies

Dr. Katarzyna Godyń is a geologist and petrographer, graduate of the Faculty of Geology, Geophysics and Environmental Protection at AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, where she obtained her MSc (2000) and PhD in Earth Sciences, specialization in mineralogy and petrography (2008). Since 2008 she has been an assistant professor at the Strata Mechanics Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Rock Deformation Laboratory. Her research focuses on sedimentary rocks and advanced coal petrography, in particular the impact of structural and textural changes in coal on gas-geodynamic phenomena in seams and on the sorption properties of coal. She also investigates anthropogenic materials from thermal waste treatment plants and their potential use in the circular economy, including construction and pro-environmental applications (e.g. zeolitization, carbonatization). She has extensive experience in optical and scanning electron microscopy, mineralogical-petrographic and stereological analyses, confirmed by numerous trainings, international cooperation and over 50 scientific publications and monographs.
