Prof. Dr. Xuejun Ma is a Professor and Director at the Department of Core Facility and PI at NHC Key Laboratory of Medical Virology and Viral Diseases; National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention; and Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention. He graduated from the Department of Virology and Molecular Biology at Wuhan University in 1988 and received his Ph.D. in Viral Genetic Engineering from the State Key Laboratory of Viral Prevention and Control, Institute of Virology, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, in 1999. He then pursued further studies at Rutgers University in New Jersey, USA, until 2004. He won the first prize for the Hebei Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress award, third prize for the Science and Technology for Chinese Society of Preventive Medicine award, and third prize for the Beijing Municipal Scientific and Technological Progress award. In November 2020, he was awarded "Outstanding Member of Hubei Anti-epidemic Frontline" by the Central Committee of the Jiu San Society. He has long been engaged in the research and development of new technologies for pathogen nucleic acid detection and the training of personnel in pathogen nucleic acid detection technology.
