Giancarlo Pepponi is the Head of the Custom Radiation Sensors Unit (FBK-SD) and the Head of Research and Development at the Micro Nano Facility of the Centre for Materials and Microsystems at the Fondazione Bruno Kessler. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of Trento in 1999 and a Ph.D. in Technical Physics from the Vienna University of Technology in 2003. He is the author and co-author of over 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals, primarily focusing on X-ray spectrometry for elemental analysis and materials characterisation, as well as X-ray detectors. His contributions span both experimental and computational activities, including data evaluation. His recent research interests include combining analytical techniques (e.g. XRF and XRD analysis), designing and testing semiconductor detectors for specific analytical needs, and applications in high-energy physics and astrophysics.
