Prof. Dr. Ezequiel Pinto graduated in Dietetics from the
University of Algarve, completed his MSc in Epidemiology at NOVA Medical
School, and obtained his PhD in Medicine & Biosciences from Cranfield
University. Since 2004, he has taught at the School of Health of the University
of Algarve, and currently coordinates the Biostatistics and Epidemiology
research group of the university’s Centre for Health Studies and Development.
Prof. Dr. Helena Leitão is an Assistant Professor (Professor
auxiliar) at the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, affiliated with
the Algarve Academic Center for Biomedical Research and Training. A Radiologist
(Médica Radiologista), she holds a Medical Degree from the Faculty of Medicine,
University of Lisbon, and a PhD in Biosciences (specializing in Biotechnology)
from the Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Coimbra. She teaches
in the University of Algarve’s Integrated Master’s Program in Medicine and is
part of its Coordinating Core. Her past roles include Executive Board Member at
Algarve’s university and regional hospital centers (EPE), and member of the
National Council of Clinical Academic Centers and the Algarve Biomedical Research
Center’s Executive Board. She has also worked as a Visiting Radiologist at
Paris’ Beaujon Hospital and Visiting Researcher at INSERM U773 (Paris) and
Boston’s Athinoula A. Martinos Center. Additionally, she completed postgraduate
studies in Medical Education (AMEE), Health Management (Nova SBE), clinical
coding (national health institutions), and medical law (University of Coimbra).
