Steven L. Foley received his Ph.D. degree in Microbiological and Veterinary Sciences at the North Dakota State University in 2001. He is a senior biological research and biological product assessment service (SBRBPAS) expert and director of the Division of Microbiology at the FDA’s National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR). Furthermore, he serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Arkansas. Steven L. Foley completed his Bachelor of Science degree in zoology and Ph.D. in cellular and molecular biology/infectious diseases from North Dakota State University in Fargo. After his postdoctoral fellowship with the FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine, Steven L. Foley worked as an assistant professor at the University of Central Arkansas (UCA). During his time at UCA, he also served as a science advisor for the FDA’s Office of Regulatory Affairs and continued as a science advisor after accepting a position as an associate research scientist with the National Farm Medicine Center at the Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation (MCRF). Moreover, he is currently a member of the MidSouth Computational Biology & Bioinformatics Society, the International Association for Food Protection, the Arkansas Association for Food Protection, and the American Society for Microbiology. His main research focuses on antimicrobial agents for poultry and egg production that minimizes the potential for the spread of antimicrobial resistance and virulence.
