Author Biographies

Dr. Freja Bagatin, MD, PhD, FEBO, is an ophthalmologist at the Department of Ophthalmology, University Hospital Center “Sestre milosrdnice”, and a lecturer at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine, where she teaches practical courses in Medical Genetics. She earned her medical degree from the University of Zagreb School of Medicine and completed her residency in ophthalmology at the same institution, obtaining a European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO) diploma in 2014. In 2021, she earned her PhD with a dissertation on structural and functional changes in patients with secondary glaucoma due to dysthyroid orbitopathy. Dr. Bagatin is currently subspecializing in anterior segment diseases and surgery. She has co-authored several scientific papers, including studies on keratoconus, glaucoma, and ocular surface disease, and has contributed a chapter on eye embryology to the University Ophthalmology textbook. She is a member of the Croatian Ophthalmological and Optometric Society and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) and has received multiple national awards for best young investigator presentations.
