Author Biographies

Paul A. Gagniuc is a researcher, author, and professor in the fields of programming languages, bioinformatics, algorithm design, and cybersecurity. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Bucharest, Romania. He currently holds academic positions at the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest (UNSTPB) and the Military Technical Academy “Ferdinand I,” Romania, where he teaches courses in programming languages, bioinformatics, and cybersecurity. His lectures and research focus on malware reverse engineering and the design of antivirus engines, with published contributions in the latter. His work addresses both offensive and defensive aspects of cybersecurity. Dr. Gagniuc is the author of several influential books, including "Markov Chains: From Theory to Implementation and Experimentation" (Wiley, 2017) and "Antivirus Engines: From Methods to Innovations, Design, and Applications" (Elsevier, 2024). His publications are widely cited across disciplines ranging from computer science and electrical engineering to genomics and medical imaging. His scientific contributions have been cited in more than 1,800 academic works to date and earned him the Romanian Academy Prize in 2014, among other distinctions. His research has been recognized both nationally and internationally, including a nomination to the Romanian Academy by Dr. Vinton Cerf, co-inventor of the Internet.
