He received his PhD degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in 1991. In 1992, he worked as a Visiting Fellow at the Hematopathology Laboratory of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester (USA) and, in 1994, he worked as as a Research Fellow at the Molecular Pathology Laboratory of New York University (USA). Now he is a Director at the School of Specialization in Pathological Anatomy, an Adjunct Professor at the Postgraduate School of Hematology, Ateneo Vita-Salute San Raffaele, and a Full Professor of Pathology at Ateneo Vita-Salute San Raffaele. He has published 348 papers in various journals and has memberships in the International Extranodal Lymphoma Study Group (IELSG): Board of Directors, the American Society of Hematology (ASH), and the European Bone Marrow Working Group. His research interests include B-cell lymphomas.
