Isabel Lema-Blanco is a professor of environmental education and the Director of the Research Group "Environmental Education, Sustainable Behavior and Innovation for Social Change" (EDUCAMB) at the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Humanities—International University of La Rioja (Spain). She received a Ph.D. in education from the University of Coruña in 2022. Her thesis was acknowledged with an Extraordinary Doctorate Award (2023). Her research interests focus on the motivational, relational, and learning processes for citizens' empowerment in sustainable transitions and social innovations, the educational and psychological dimensions of sustainable consumption and green lifestyles, youth engagement in climate action, and media literacy and citizen empowerment in community media.
She has been involved in inter- and transdisciplinary research for over 12 years, participating in ten collaborative European, national, and regional research and innovation projects that integrated social sciences and artificial intelligence approaches for the design of energy innovation and urban sustainability projects. She has authored more than 40 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and book chapters and edited several books on media literacy and community media. She is the President of the Institute of Psychosocial Studies and Research, "Xoan Vicente Viqueira". She was a founding member of the Research Network on Community, Alternative, and Participatory Communication.
