Patrick Pageat is the founder of the Research Institute in
Semiochemistry and Applied Ethology (IRSEA). He is currently serving as
Research Dean and Head of the Department of Chemical Ecology at IRSEA.
He is a veterinary doctor who completed his PhD in Biological Sciences
(Speciality: Entomology) at the National Museum of Natural History in
Paris in 1991. In 2002, he received a diploma from the European College
of Veterinary Behaviour Medicine for Companion Animals. He has served as
an associate professor of applied ethology and animal welfare at the
Purpan Engineering School and as a visiting professor at the University
of Pisa in Italy. Over 400 patents have been filed as a result of his
research work, and numerous research articles have been published in
international journals. He served as president of the European College
of Animal Welfare and Behavioural Medicine from 2008 to 2011. His
teaching and research disciplines include chemical communication and the
pathology of behaviour in animals.
