Prof. Defu Chi, Doctor of Agricultural Science, Level-2 Professor and doctoral supervisor, is a national candidate for the New Century Talents Project, recipient of the State Council Special Government Allowance, and Distinguished Young and Middle-Aged Expert in Heilongjiang Province. He also serves as Vice Chairman of the Chinese Society of Forestry’s Forest Entomology Committee & Youth Working Committee Advisory Board, and Member of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration’s Forest Pest Control Standardization Committee. Focusing on forest pest research and teaching, he has led over 30 projects (including national key R&D and NSFC projects), published 180+ papers (30+ SCI-indexed), 6 monographs/textbooks, and won 1 national (2nd Prize, Science and Technology Progress) and 11 provincial-ministerial awards (2 first, 9 second prizes). Educated at Northeast Forestry University (BSc, 1980–1984; MSc, 1988–1991; PhD, 1992–1996), he has worked at the university’s Forest Protection Discipline as Lecturer (1991–1995), Associate Professor (1995–1999), and Professor/doctoral supervisor (1999–present), with a visiting scholarship at Hungary’s Academy of Sciences (1994–1995).
Prof. Jia Yu, PhD, is an Associate Professor and Master’s Supervisor, mainly engaging in research on forest pest and disease control as well as biodiversity conservation. She has been working at Northeast Forestry University since 2004. She has presided over 2 sub-projects of the National Science and Technology Support Program, published more than 10 academic papers (including 2 SCI-indexed papers), and compiled one textbook. In addition, she has won one Second Prize in the Heilongjiang Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, one Liangxi Science and Technology Progress Award, and one Second Prize in the Heilongjiang Provincial Teaching Achievement Award, respectively. She also teaches professional courses such as Forestry and Forest Protection.
