Youssef M. Youssef is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics in the Department of Geological and Geophysical Engineering, Faculty of Petroleum and Mining Engineering, Suez University. He earned his Ph.D. in Geology in 2022 through a joint scholarship between Suez University and the University of Tsukuba, Japan. In 2018, he joined Sugita’s Hydrology Laboratory at the University of Tsukuba as a Ph.D. research fellow under a joint program supported by the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education. Dr. Youssef applies an integrative, multidisciplinary framework that combines remote sensing, field observations, and advanced geospatial analytics—including multi-criteria decision analysis, hydrodynamic modeling, and machine learning—to address geo-environmental challenges such as groundwater depletion, pollution, and geohazards (e.g., floods, rockfalls, and groundwater rise) in regions affected by anthropogenic pressures and climate change. He has authored over 35 peer-reviewed papers indexed in Scopus and the Web of Science. His research focuses on developing cost-effective, integrated frameworks that strengthen mitigation strategies in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
