Carlo Trompetto is the head of the specialization school in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Genova. He is also the head of the Neurorehabilitation Clinic of the San Martino Hospital in Genova. He received his MD degree (with honors) at the University of Genova in 1992. In 1996, he obtained his neurology specialization in Genova. From 1996 to 1997, he received extra training as a neurophysiologist during fellowships at The Institute of Neurology, Queen Square, London, UK (Professor John Rothwell). In 2000, he received a PhD degree in neurophysiology and neuropharmacology from the University of Genoa. In 2014, he obtained his specialization in physical and rehabilitation medicine at the University of Pisa. He is mainly interested in the mechanisms mediating function recovery in patients with stroke and multiple sclerosis and the pathophysiology and treatment of spasticity and dystonia.
