Dr. Hayato Nakamura received his Bachelor of Veterinary
Medicine in Immunology (2021) and is now pursuing a PhD at the Graduate School
of Infectious Disease, Hokkaido University. He worked as a researcher at Yakult
Honsha Co., Ltd. (2021–2023) before enrolling in the Graduate School of
Infectious Diseases at Hokkaido University in 2023. In 2024, he also began his research
fellow position at the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. He received
the Award for Oral Presentation Excellence, issued by the 12th Sapporo
Symposium of One Health (2024) and the IVIS2025 Travel Grant Award, issued by
the Veterinary Immunology committee of the International Union of Immunological
Societies (2025). His research topics include flow cytometry, transcriptome, R
programming, Python, tumor microenvironments, immunology and infectious diseases.
Dr. Naoya Maekawa graduated from the Graduate School of
Veterinary Medicine, Hokkaido University, in 2017 with a PhD in Veterinary
Medicine. He worked as a research fellow at the Japan Society for the Promotion
of Science (2015–2017). In 2018, he moved to Hokkaido University Graduate
School of Veterinary Medicine to work as a postdoctoral researcher and was
promoted to a specially appointed assistant professor position in the same
year. He received the Veterinary Science Encouragement Award from the Japanese
Society of Veterinary Medicine (2018), the The 11th International Veterinary
Immunology Symposium IUIS VIC/EVIG Travel Award (2016) and the Hokkaido
Veterinary Medical Association Hokkaido Veterinary Medical Association
President's Award (2014). His research topics include life sciences, veterinary
immunology and veterinary medicine.
Prof. Dr. Kazuhiko Ohashi received his Master’s degree in
Veterinary Medicine from the Department of Preventive Medicine of Hokkaido
University Graduate School of Veterinary Medicine in 1993 and a PhD from the
Graduate School of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University in 1993. He began his associate professor position in 2001 in the Department of Animal Disease Control,
Graduate School of Veterinary Medicine, Hokkaido University, and was promoted
to a specially appointed professor in 2008. Dr. Ohashi revised the Japanese
Society of Veterinary Medicine Award in 2008. He is also a member of several
societies, such as the Japanese Society for Virology and the Japanese
Veterinary Medical Association. His research topics include cell biology and
infection immunity.
Prof. Dr. Satoru Konnai is the dean of the School of
Infectious Diseases and a professor of the Department of Pathogen Control,
Graduate School of Veterinary Medicine at Hokkaido University. He graduated from
Hokkaido University Graduate School of Veterinary Medicine with a doctoral
degree in 2003. Previously, he was the head of the Department of Advanced Drug
Discovery of the Graduate School of Veterinary Medicine, Hokkaido University
(2022–2025). He received the Agricultural Technology Top 10 News of 2019 from
the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (2019), the 4th Ito
Memorial Foundation Award (2019), 2016 Hokkaido University President's Research
Award (2017) and the Japanese Society of Veterinary Medicine Award from the
Japanese Society of Veterinary Medicine (2015). Dr. Konnai is also a member of
several committees, including the Emergency Livestock Disease Prevention
Project, Agricultural Policy Promotion Council, the Japan Veterinary Society
and the Production Medicine Research Society. His interests include infection
immunity, clinical immunology, tumor immunology, virology and infectious
diseases.
