Dr. Erand Llanaj is a molecular epidemiologist ranked among the top 2% of scientists worldwide, whose work bridges science, policy, and population health. His research integrates exposure, nutritional, metabolic, and molecular data to uncover the mechanisms linking diet and lifestyle to cardiometabolic diseases. He has contributed to EPIC-Potsdam and EPIC-Europe studies, applying advanced analytical frameworks to evaluate diet quality, lipidomics, and metabolic pathways relevant to public health prevention. As a collaborator with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), Dr. Llanaj has co-authored Global Burden of Disease (GBD) publications and international reports that inform global and national health strategies. His work has appeared in The Lancet, BMC Medicine, JAMA, BMJ, Clinical Nutrition, European Journal of Epidemiology, and Nutrients. He has led grant-funded projects and meta-analyses of randomized trials, translating molecular findings into actionable, evidence-based nutrition policies.
