Author Biographies

Dr. Glenda Hux is an occupational therapist, educator, and researcher with over 20 years of experience supporting families navigating complex conditions. She serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of Arkansas and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), where her work bridges clinical practice, research, and advocacy. Her research focuses on how prolonged stress affects occupational engagement, interoceptive awareness, and overall well-being. As a UAMS STARS Translational Research Institute scholar, she explores the relationship between quality of life, prolonged stress, and daily life. Dr. Hux is the author of Integrative Neural Networks (INN), a novel frame of reference designed to support occupational engagement in caregivers. She has served as President and Legislative Chair of the Mississippi Occupational Therapy Association, advisor to the AOTPAC, and member of the Mississippi Department of Health Licensure Advisory Council for Speech Pathologists and Audiologists. In 2025, she was named a Distinguished Fellow of the Occupational Therapy Academy by the National Academies of Practice.
