Natalia Kurhaluk is an Associate
Professor at the Institute of Biology and Earth Sciences, Pomeranian University
in Słupsk as well as an Associate Professor at the Department of Human
Physiology, Faculty of Health Sciences and Institute of Maritime and Tropical
Medicine, Medical University of Gdańsk. She specializes in biochemistry,
physiology of man, and animal physiology.
Lyudmyla Buyun, was born in 1960 in Rivne region, Ukraine. In 1982, she graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with a degree in Biology (specialization: Botany). She earned her PhD in Biological Sciences (Botany) in 1987 and her Doctor of Biological Sciences degree in 2012.
Her research focuses on the conservation and scientific study of tropical and subtropical plant collections, especially orchids, as a key component of cultural and scientific heritage. Her scientific expertise includes structural botany, reproductive biology, micromorphology, and the study of adaptive traits of tropical plants under greenhouse and in vitro conditions.
She is also deeply engaged in promoting the role of botanical gardens as open scientific institutions accessible to diverse audiences.
Dr. Buyun has extensive experience in managing and coordinating scientific projects, particularly in ex situ conservation of tropical flora, maintaining plant collections, and evaluating their medicinal potential. She also develops educational programs tailored for diverse target groups.
Piotr Kamiński is the Head of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection, Ludwik Rydygier Collegium Medicum in Bydgoszcz and a long-time researcher at the University of Białystok, currently the Nicolaus Copernicus University and the University of Zielona Góra. He graduated from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. He conducts ecological research on birds, mammals, fish and plants in various environments.
