Dr. Shailendra Pawanr is currently serving as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in sustainable manufacturing (machining) from the prestigious Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, an Institute of Eminence recognized by the Government of India. Dr. Pawanr brings over 11 years of experience in teaching and research, reflecting his expertise and dedication to his field, including a Bachelor’s in Industrial and Production Engineering and a Master’s in Industrial Engineering and Management. His research interests are centered on sustainable and energy-efficient machining techniques, as well as the modeling and optimization of manufacturing processes. His work is driven by a commitment to reducing the environmental impact of machining processes while upholding high standards of quality and efficiency. Throughout his academic career, Dr. Pawanr has made notable contributions to his field, demonstrated by an extensive publication record with over 20 articles in high-impact international journals and conferences. Beyond his research, he serves as a reviewer for several prestigious journals, underscoring his expertise and professional recognition. He has also delivered numerous expert talks at national and international platforms.
Prof.
Kapil Gupta is working as Full Professor in the Dept. of Mechanical and
Industrial Engineering Technology at the University of Johannesburg. He
obtained his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering with specialization in Advanced
Manufacturing, after his Masters in computer integrated manufacturing and
Bachelors in mechanical engineering. He has fifteen years of professional experience in
academic and research fields. Advanced machining processes, sustainable
manufacturing, green machining, precision engineering, gear technology, sustainability,
and industry 4.0 are the areas of his interest. He is a recognized C rated
(established) researcher by the National Research Foundation of South Africa and a
member of the South African Young Academy of Science. He has authored and
edited 20 international books on hybrid machining, advanced gear manufacturing,
micro and precision manufacturing, spark erosion machining, and sustainable
manufacturing. He has also authored over 150 SCI & Scopus Journal and
International Conference articles. Prof. Gupta has supervised 9 PhD and 18 Master
students, and hosted 5 postdoctoral research fellows. He is serving on the
editorial boards of 7 international journals. He has successfully completed research, training, and
teaching projects funded by international agencies. He is regularly
solicited by international committees and institutes for expert and keynote
talks, and evaluation of research project, faculty promotion applications, and
PhD theses.
