Author Biographies

Joe Llerena Izquierdo is a Computer Engineer from the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL, 2001) and a Master's in Management Information Systems (ESPOL, 2007). He also has a Master's in Business Administration (UPS, 2012) and a Master's in Education Sciences (UPS, 2012) from the Salesian Polytechnic University. Since 1995, he has been dedicated to teaching in secondary and higher education institutions. Since 2000, he has been teaching at the Salesian Polytechnic University, Guayaquil. Currently, he is a professor of Computer Engineering and a member of the graduate team. He has been a member of the IEEE Ecuador R9 Section since 2008. Founder of the IEEE Student Branch in Guayaquil in 2009. Student Activities Coordinator (SAC) of the Ecuador Section from 2010 to 2012. Currently, he is a member of the IEEE Society in Education. He has been a coordinator of the Research Group on Engineering Science Teaching and Learning (GIEACI) since 2014 and a member of the Educational Innovation Group in Information and Communication Technologies (Gie-Ticea) since 2019. Her research interests are related to Engineering Education.
Degree in Psychopedagogy and PhD in Education and Society from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She has worked as an undergraduate and postgraduate lecturer in various higher education institutions (in foreign institutions), where she has been dedicated to the pedagogical, epistemological and methodological training of university teachers. She has worked as a consultant in the fields of teacher training and innovation, as well as research in higher education in national and foreign universities. She has directed the development of research and teacher training systems in several universities in Guayaquil. She develops educational research, specifically from the applied phenomenological-hermeneutic approach, being a pioneer in the Latin American context. She is part of the editorial team of the journal Phenomenology & Practice, a main member of the Latin American Circle of Phenomenology for Ecuador, and a reviewer in several international journals of impact in the field of pedagogy and research methodology. Currently, she is a research professor in the Education Department and Research Coordinator at UPS Guayaquil.
