Dr. Jaesung Moon received his Ph.D. in Major of Mechanical System Engineering from Pukyong National University, South Korea. He began his professional career as a marine engineer, working for a commercial shipping company between 2009 and 2015, where he acquired extensive hands-on experience in engine operation, maintenance, and shipboard safety. He began his career as a Third Engineer on board the training ship Baek-kyung at Pukyong National University in 2016, and has been serving as the First Engineer since 2022 to the present. In this role, he is responsible for the operation and management of the main two-stroke diesel engine and auxiliary systems, as well as providing practical training for cadets in marine engineering operations. Building on both his academic background and seagoing expertise, Dr. Moon has focused his research on marine diesel engine performance, fuel efficiency, and emission reduction technologies, with particular emphasis on Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) systems and Controllable Pitch Propeller (CPP) operation strategies. His work aims to integrate theoretical research with practical ship operation, offering valuable contributions toward sustainable and efficient marine engineering practices.
