Alain Carballo Peña is a Consulting Professor in the Department of Geology at the Dr. Antonio Núñez Jiménez University in Moa, Cuba. He holds a degree in Geological Engineering (1979) and a Ph.D. in Geological Sciences (1997) from the same university. His expertise includes geological mapping, prospecting, and geological-economic evaluation of mineral resources.
He has published numerous scientific articles and delivered lectures at national and international conferences on topics such as nickel and cobalt laterites, rare earths, gold, chromites, and non-metallic minerals. He has also received several awards and distinctions for his academic and scientific contributions.
Currently, he serves as head of the research program on the comprehensive use of mineral resources in the province of Holguín, Cuba.

Elmidio Estévez Cruz earned a B.S. in Geology (1994) from the University of Pinar del Río, Cuba, an M.Sc. in Mineral Exploration (1998–1999) in the Netherlands, and a Ph.D. in Technical Sciences (2007–2011) in Cuba. He has been a lecturer in the Department of Geology since 2000.
His research interests include resource estimation, mineral deposit modeling, and geological mapping. He has published more than 30 papers in journals across several countries, including Spain, Mexico, Colombia, and Cuba.
His teaching areas include Economic Geology, Mineral Exploration, and Mineral Deposit Modeling and Resource Estimation.

Reinaldo Rojas is a Senior Researcher at the Petroleum Research Institute, Cuba. He holds degrees in Geological Engineering, an M.Sc. in Geology, and a Ph.D. in Geological Sciences. His areas of expertise include Stratigraphy, Macropaleontology, and Regional Geology.
He has authored more than 70 publications in specialized journals and book chapters, as well as numerous papers, extended abstracts, and conference presentations at international events. He has also taught in postgraduate programs and supervised multiple undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral theses.
Dr. Rojas has received several awards for his scientific work, including the “Carlos J. Finlay Order” from the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba (2021).

Domingo A. Martín holds a Ph.D. in Geological Sciences and is a Professor in the Department of Geological Engineering and Mining at the School of Mines and Energy, Technical University of Madrid (UPM). He has held various management positions at UPM related to quality and social responsibility and is currently attached to the Directorate for Economic Affairs and Infrastructure.
In the field of teaching and research, Dr. Martín has worked extensively in geological, hydrogeological, and geophysical prospecting. Over the past five years, he has also developed a recognized and growing activity in educational innovation and international cooperation.
He is the academic head of the Unit of Social Entrepreneurship, Ethics and Values in Engineering (UESEVI) at the School of Mines and Energy, UPM.
Jorge Luis Costafreda Mustelier holds a Ph.D. in Geological Engineering and is a Professor at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Minas y Energía, Department of Geological and Mining Engineering, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain). He specializes in geology, geochemistry, and the prospecting of metallic and non-metallic mineral deposits.
He is an expert in the characterization, standardization, and application of sustainable natural materials such as pozzolans, zeolites, clays, and natural stone. His other areas of expertise include bentonites, cements, petrology, mineralogy, mineral raw materials for construction, and ceramic materials.
He is also a member of the Environmental Studies Research Group at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
