Paola Ghiorzo is a Full Professor of Biology and Genetics at
the University of Genoa. She received a Master of Science in Biological
Sciences from the University of Genoa in 1994 and a Ph.D. in Human Molecular
and Cellular Biology at the University of Turin in 1999. She earned a
Specialization in Medical Genetics from the University of Genoa in 2008. She
served as an Assistant Professor of Biology and Genetics at the University of
Genoa from 2010 to 2014 and as an Associate Professor from 2014 to 2017. Her main
areas of interest include biology and genetics of neoplastic cells: the
characterization of cellular and molecular mechanisms of neoplastic
transformation, as well as the identification and structural and functional characterization
of susceptibility genes with respect to the development of hereditary cancers through
molecular genetic studies (with particular application to melanoma, pancreatic
carcinoma, and hereditary and rare cancers).
