Author Biographies

Cesar Augusto Roque-Borda is a double-degree (2021–2025) Ph.D. in Biosciences and Biotechnology Applied to Pharmacy at Sao Paulo State University (UNESP, Brazil) and Pharm.D. at the University of Lisbon (iMed.Ulisboa, Portugal). He spent one year as a guest Ph.D. student at the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) and 6 months at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa). He holds an M.Sc. degree in Animal Science from UNESP and a B.Sc. degree in Biotechnological Engineering from Universidad Católica de Santa María (Peru) with an internship at CIDCA-CONICET (Argentina). His research specializes in the design and synthesis of AMPs and nanotechnology-based therapies against multidrug-resistant bacteria.

João Perdigão is a Principal Investigator and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the iMed.ULisboa, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon, Lisbon, Portugal. He received his PhD in Pharmacy, with a specialization in Microbiology, in 2013 from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Lisbon. He is also the co-head of the Laboratory of Bacterial Pathogenomics and Drug Resistance, alongside Isabel Portugal. His research primarily focuses on the study of the evolution of multidrug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains and the genomic epidemiology/comparative genomics of clinical isolates circulating in Portugal and Portuguese-speaking countries.
