Simone Garagnani is Architectural Engineer who earned his PhD in Building and Territorial Engineering from the University of Bologna in 2010. He is currently Associate Professor at the University of Urbino “Carlo Bo”. Over the years, he has been actively involved in teaching and research activities related to Drawing, Survey, BIM, and Digital Representation of Cultural Heritage at the Department of Architecture, University of Bologna, and within the DigiSkill program at the Polytechnic in Milan and at the UNIBIM master at the University of Pisa.
Simone also worked as a researcher at the Interdepartmental Center for Industrial Research (CIRI) at the University of Bologna, focusing on developing software and methodologies related to Building Information Modeling (BIM) and its applications (2012-2014).
Simone's research interests revolve around various aspects of computer graphics, digital modeling and color management, architectural 3D laser scanning, BIM, and computer archiving technologies applied to the Cultural Heritage and Digital Humanities.
In 2012, he was a Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS) department.
In 2015, Simone held the position of Global Guest Associate Professor at Keio University in Tokyo, Japan.
