Dr. J. Patrick Neary is an exercise physiologist and Professor at the Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies at the University of Regina, Regina, Canada. He obtained a Master of Arts in Physical Education from the University of Victoria and a Ph.D. in Physical Education & Recreation from the University of Alberta. He has developed an independent research program over the past 20 years to examine the pathophysiology of mild traumatic brain injury or sport-related concussion, which was funded nationally by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and provincially by the Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation (SHRF). His research in this area has confirmed that transient cerebrovascular (blood flow regulation) and cardiovascular (heart rate variability, blood pressure) disturbances occur following a concussion.
Dr. Cameron S. Mang, BPE, MSc, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies at the University of Regina. His research aims to improve the understanding of factors that support neuroplasticity toward advances in rehabilitation strategies for people living with motor impairment due to chronic neurological conditions. He uses techniques in electrophysiology (e.g., transcranial magnetic stimulation) to study how the central nervous system controls movement and the impact of neurological conditions on these processes. He is also the founder of a community exercise program (Enrich Neurorehab) for people with chronic neurological conditions delivered at the University of Regina Centre for Health, Wellness, and Performance. His dual role as a researcher and practicing kinesiologist/clinical exercise physiologist fosters the development of clinically meaningful research and knowledge mobilization.
