Fei Gao is a principal investigator at the Shenzhen
Institute of Agricultural Genomics, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
He is also the deputy director of the Key Laboratory of Agricultural Gene Data
Analysis of the Ministry of Agriculture, a member of the Epigenetics Committee
of the Chinese Genetics Society and the Germ-free Animal Society of the Chinese
Society of Laboratory Animal Science. He has been engaged in research on
epigenetic control of development and disease processes, epigenetic effects of nutrition
and microbiota, and the development of new methods for animal epigenomics. He
received his Ph.D. from Aarhus University, Denmark in 2010. He worked as a
lecturer at Jilin University from 2004 to 2011. He served as the team leader at
BGI Genomics Co., Ltd. from 2011 to 2014. He went to the University of
Copenhagen for postdoctoral research from October 2014 to March 2015. He joined
the Institute of Agricultural Genomics, Chinese Academy of Agricultural
Sciences as the team leader in 2015. His team used whole-genome methylation
sequencing technology for trace cells to reveal for the first time the
epigenetic regulatory mechanism of the fine DNA methylation map of early
embryonic development in primates. He was selected for the "Young Talent
Program" of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Shenzhen
Major Talent Program. He has won the Open Data Award from BMC Magazine and the
First Prize for Science and Technology Progress in Jilin Province.
