Dmitry S. Kopylov is a paleontologist specializing in fossil insects, with a primary focus on the taxonomy, morphology, and evolution of Mesozoic Hymenoptera. He received his Candidate of Biological Sciences degree from the Paleontological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Currently, he is Head of the Laboratory of Paleozoology at the Institute of Zoology in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Over the past two decades, he has participated in more than 20 paleontological expeditions across Central Asia, discovering and describing over 100 new insect species. His research emphasizes morphological character analysis, systematics, and collection-based studies. Dmitry has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and actively collaborates with international research teams. He also curates paleontological collections and develops digitized databases to enhance accessibility and scientific use of fossil data.
