Author Biographies

Dr. Jolanda Jansen is co-owner of St. Anna Advies and an experienced researcher, trainer, and communications consultant specializing in behavioral change in the veterinary and agricultural domains. She studied Animal Science and Communication and Innovation Studies at Wageningen University, where she obtained her PhD in 2010 for pioneering research on communication strategies to improve udder health and the role of veterinarians’ communication skills. Her consultancy and training work focus on human skills in animal health, emphasizing the link between human behavior and animal health outcomes. She supports veterinary teams, practices, policymakers, and educational institutions in effective communication, innovation, and managing challenging interactions. Jolanda has co-developed innovative training tools such as the Veterinary DialogueTrainer, which integrates AI, VR, and AR to make communication training more realistic and engaging. She is a regular guest lecturer at veterinary faculties worldwide and actively participates in research on veterinary communication and workplace culture. She writes scientific articles and columns and is a co-author of Communication in Practice: The Vet’s Manual on Clienthusiasm and Tails of Terror.
