Author Biographies

Daniel Barreiros is a Full Professor at the Institute of Economics of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil. He is a faculty member of both the Graduate Program in International Political Economy (PEPI-UFRJ) and the Graduate Program in Comparative History (PPGHC-UFRJ). He currently serves as President of the International Big History Association (IBHA). Barreiros holds a PhD in Social History from the Fluminense Federal University (UFF) and a postgraduate specialization in the History of International Relations from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). He also participated in the U.S. Institute of Foreign Policy Studies as a visiting researcher in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Delaware, as part of a U.S. Department of State program. He is co-coordinator of the Russian–Latin American Research Club (UFRJ – Lomonosov Moscow State University) and coordinator of the History, Complexity, and Evolution Research Group. His research focuses on the dynamics of conflict and cooperation among human groups, analyzed through a macrohistorical lens that bridges history, complexity, and evolution.
