Prof. James Carroll is a Professor and former Chancellor’s Fellow in the Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering (EEE). He is the Director and PI of the Wind and Marine Energy Systems and Structures CDT (2019 to 2027), he is the Strathclyde Director and PI of the new EnerHy Wind and Hydrogen CDT (2024–2032), and the Co-Lead of the Wind Energy and Control (WEC) Group. He joined EEE and the Wind Energy and Control Group in 2012 as a Wind Energy Systems CDT PhD student, he secured a Chancellor’s Fellowship in 2018 and was promoted to Professor in 2023. His core research areas include wind turbine reliability/maintenance modelling, novel wind turbine development and data-driven failure prediction of wind turbine components.
