Ana Isabel Fernandes is an Associate Professor of Pharmaceutics and Head of the PharmSci Lab at the Egas Moniz School of Health & Science, PT. She graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Lisbon, PT, and earned her PhD in Drug Delivery from the University of London, UK. Her research has focused on polymers and polymeric systems for biomedical applications, particularly for the delivery of therapeutic proteins and conventional drugs, and it currently addresses paediatric formulations, solubility enhancement through co-amorphization, and the 3D printing of pharmaceuticals, as well as nutraceuticals and lifestyle drugs. She has extensive experience as an evaluator, scientific advisor, principal investigator, and collaborator in externally funded projects. Dr. Fernandes is also a member of several Editorial Boards, a Guest Editor of journal Special Issues, and the author of numerous publications in international peer-reviewed journals.
