Josep Gregori earned, from the Institut Químic de Sarrià (IQS), a Chemical Engineer degree (1977) and a PhD in Quantum Chemistry (1981). He later earned a master's degree in Biostatistics and Bioinformatics (2010) from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and a PhD in Statistics (2014) from the Universitat de Barcelona (UB). He is now semi-retired after 12 years as Senior Bioinformatitian of the Liver Diseases--Viral Hepatitis, Liver Unit, Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR), at the Vall d'Hebron Hospital Barcelona Campus, combined with 10 years as Bioinformatics Manager at Roche Diagnostics S.L., Sant Cugat, Spain. His work in studying viral quasispecies diversity and evolution has resulted in 88 publications indexed in PubMed, two book chapters, and a co-edited book on quasispecies diversity and evolution.

Senior Researcher in Statistics at the University of Barcelona and the Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Research Group (University of Barcelona - Polytechnic University of Catalonia). His theoretical and applied research focuses on modeling, inference, representation, classification, and experimental design. He is an Associate Professor in Statistics at the University of Barcelona. His teaching at both undergraduate and master's levels has included mathematics, statistics, multivariate analysis, and experimental design. He has held executive roles at the University of Barcelona University, has served as director of master's programs, and participated in numerous university-industry collaboration projects.
Senior Researcher at VHIR, Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (UAB), and Group Leader of CIBERehd. Research focuses on viral variability, metagenomics, and the role of viruses in undiagnosed diseases. He has received continuously secured competitive funded projects since 2016, he has participated in 23 national and international competitive projects, and he has published more than 170 peer-reviewed papers. He has supervised six PhD theses and three more are under development. Member of seven committees at Vall d’Hebron Research Institute, two international ones (HEVnet for hepatitis E and SHARED for hepatitis C), and four national ones, including the national network of laboratories, RELECOV (EU project), the Coordinating Committee of the “Strategic Plan for the tackling of Hepatits C (PEAHC)” Spanish Ministry of Health, the “Alianza para la eliminación de las Hepatitis en España” (AEHVE), which is celebrating 10 years of successful HCV treatment, and his position on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer of the Spanish Society for Virology since 2009. He has participated in the Science by Woman Program, training African women. Awards: PhD extraordinary award (1994); Ciudad de Barcelona (1996); Best Ideas Diario Medico (2015); Premio Ciencia y Tecnologia Diari Regió7-Prensa Ibérica (2020).
