Christos L. Stergiou holds a degree in Geology (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki – AUTH, 2013) with a postgraduate specialization (AUTH, 2016) in "Mineral Raw Materials and Environment" and a PhD (AUTH, 2022) in Geology (Mineral Chemistry-Geochemistry, Economic Geology). His doctoral research focused on the distribution of critical and rare metals in ore deposits of the Serbo-Macedonian Metallogenic Zone in Greece. It was funded through a scholarship awarded by the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY). He has also been awarded two research grants by the Society of Economic Geologists (SEG). His professional experience includes participation in national and European research projects, the private sector, and academic teaching. He has developed substantial expertise in economic geology, geochemistry, mineral deposits, mineralogy, and petrography. His research interests extend to the tectonic controls on ore formation, environmental geochemistry and mineralogy, geoarchaeology (provenance of raw materials), geoheritage, and geoethics. Currently, he works as a collaborating researcher at the Chemical Process and Energy Resources Institute (CPERI) of the Center for Research and Technology (Hellas) while also conducting postdoctoral research at the School of Geology, AUTH. As a researcher, he has published 14 articles in peer-reviewed international journals (Scopus IF = 6) and has contributed over 55 abstracts and articles to national and international conferences and volumes.
