Jorge Lima received his PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Coimbra (2000) and is now an Affiliated Professor of Biopathology at the University of Porto. He worked as a Researcher at IPATIMUP (2000-2015). In 2015, he moved to i3S, the Institute for Investigation and Innovation in Health, and was promoted to Principal Investigator while maintaining his lecturer position at the University of Porto (since 2007). He has led collaborations between IPATIMUP and international institutes, such as Roswell Park Cancer Institute (Buffalo, USA) and Weill Cornell Medical College (New York, USA). Professor Jorge's scientific research has resulted in over 30 publications in peer-reviewed international journals, having over 1300 citations and an h-index of 16. His research topics mainly include cancer metabolism, mitochondrial dysfunction in oncology, metabolic reprogramming, hereditary endocrine tumors (particularly paragangliomas and pheochromocytomas), and therapeutic targeting of metabolic pathways in cancer.
