Prof. Qiang Niu is a professor of the School of Urban Design
at Wuhan University. He received a BS from Wuhan Technical University of
Surveying and Mapping in 2000, an MS from Wuhan University in 2003, and a PhD
from Tongji University in 2011. He was a Visiting Scholar at the School of
Geography and Planning, Cardiff University in 2015. He is a member of the Big
Data Professional Committee of the China Urban Science Research Association and
a member of the National Land Space Planning Research Professional Committee of
the China Natural Resources Society. His research interests include new
planning research methods in the era of big data, new planning theories in the
information age, quantitative planning analysis in the digital age, and smart
urban and rural planning.
