Prof. Kiyoshi Dowaki received his B.E. and M.E. degrees from Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan, in 1992 and 1994, respectively, and his Ph.D. degree from the University of Tokyo, Japan, in 2001, all in engineering. From 2004 to 2005, he was engaged in R&D on bio-carbon fuel cells at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu, HI, USA. Since 2006, he has been a lecturer and a professor with the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Graduate School of Science and Technology, Tokyo University of Science, Chiba, Japan. His research interests include the promotion of renewable energy systems using biomass resources and combined energy systems involving biomass gasification and fuel cells. He has developed the Bio-H2 fuel through the Blue Tower gasification process.
