Dr. Zhen Chen is a senior investigator in NICHD’s Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Branch at the National Institutes of Health. He completed his B.A. studies in economics at People’s University of China, Beijing, China, in 1991. He completed his M.S. studies in economics at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT, USA, in 1996. Finally, he completed his Ph.D. studies in statistics at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT, USA, in 2001. He has published numerous papers in biomedical research and is the recipient of several NIH and NICHD merit awards. His research interests include Bayesian modeling and computations, diagnostic accuracy, causal inference, and chemical mixture modeling.
Prof. Cuilin Zhang is a chair professor on women’s health at the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, the founding director of the Global Centre for Asian Women’s Health, and the lead for the Population Health Study Programme of the Asian Centre for Reproductive Longevity and Equity. She completed her MD studies in preventive medicine at Beijing Medical University; her MPH studies in epidemiology were completed at the University of Washington School of Public Health; and her PhD studies in epidemiology were completed at the University of Washington School of Public Health. Her research interests include nutrition, gestational diabetes, type 2 diabetes, women's health, one health, developmental origins of diseases, metabolomics, multi-omics, precision nutrition, maternal, and child health.
Dr. Katherine L Grantz is a senior investigator, specializing in the epidemiology branch, DiPHR, DIR, NICHD, and NIH. She completed her MSc studies in clinical research through the NIH Clinical Research Training Program at the University of Pittsburgh, PA, USA. She is an obstetrician and maternal–fetal medicine specialist and leads a research program on clinical management of pregnancy complications, including aberrant fetal growth, when to deliver a high-risk pregnancy, and labor and delivery management. She has been awarded the 2018 NIH Postbaccalaureate Distinguished Mentor Award and the 2021 NICHD Mentor Award. Her research interests include epidemiology and clinical research.
Dr. Jagteshwar Grewal is the director of the Division of Population Health Research (DiPHR) at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. She completed her B.A. studies in economics and mathematics at Smith College in 1991. Her M.A. studies in economics were completed at the University of Michigan in 1997. Her M.P.H. studies in epidemiology were completed at the University of Michigan School of Public Health in 2000. Finally, her Ph.D. studies in epidemiology were completed at the University of Michigan School of Public Health in 2005. Her research interests include epidemiology, fetal growth, and pregnancy outcomes (e.g., gravid disorders, intrauterine growth restriction, and birth defects), especially regarding maternal nutrition.
