Dr. Cristina González Díaz received her Bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Alicante in 2004, where she also earned her Doctorate in 2011 with the thesis Formal and Content Analysis of Food Points Aimed at Childhood, awarded cum laude. She has been an Associate University Professor since 2018 in the Department of Communication and Social Psychology at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Alicante. She serves as the director of the research group Communication, Food and Consumer Affairs (FOODCO). She has led several research projects, including studies on health messages in food advertising and consumer understanding of health claims. She has also been a visiting researcher at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the University of Edinburgh, and the University of Amsterdam. Her research topics mainly include food advertising, health communication, consumer behavior, and functional foods.
Dr. José Miguel Martínez-Sanz received his degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Alicante, followed by a Master’s degree in Public Health from Universidad Miguel Hernández and in Human Nutrition and Food Quality from the University of the Balearic Islands. He has participated in interdisciplinary research projects on food advertising policies targeting children (PolMark) and obesity epidemiology with the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN). He completed his doctoral thesis on nutritional value in endurance sports and the characterization of genotyped nutritional supplements while serving as an associate professor and dietitian–nutritionist at the University of Alicante. He is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Nursing at the University of Alicante and a researcher within the DANuC research group, where he helped establish a line of research on nutrition, physical activity, and sport. His research topics include sports nutrition, anthropometry, functional foods, and public health.
