Dr. Celso Tello obtained his Medical degree from the University of Cuenca, Ecuador, and then completed his ophthalmology residency at The New York Eye & Ear Infirmary in 1998. Following research and clinical fellowships in glaucoma, he joined Drs. Ritch and Liebmann in clinical practice. Dr. Celso Tello is presently Assistant Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at the New York Medical College and Associate Director of the Glaucoma Service at The New York Eye & Ear Infirmary, where he is responsible for Resident and Fellow glaucoma education. Dr. Celso Tello is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Pan-American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the Ophthalmic Laser Surgical Society, and the New York Society for Clinical Ophthalmology. He was instrumental in developing the clinical applications of ultrasound biomicroscopy. He is currently President of the New York Society for Clinical Ophthalmology, Vice-Chair of the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary staff, and Consultant for the Lighthouse International.
