Akiyoshi Takami, MD, PhD is Professor and Chief of the Division of Hematology, Department of Internal Medicine, Aichi Medical University School of Medicine, Nagakute, Japan—a post he has held since 2014. He received his MD from Kanazawa University School of Medicine in 1991 and his PhD in Medical Science from the same university in 2000. Dr Takami began his academic career that year as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Hematology, Kanazawa University Graduate School of Medicine, and in 2007 became Associate (Clinical) Professor and Chief of the Division of Transfusion Medicine at Kanazawa University Hospital. His current research focuses on immunotherapies for hematologic malignancies, hematopoietic stem‑cell transplantation, and laboratory hematology.
