Author Biographies

Prof. Dr. Željka Zgorelec is a Professor at the Division of Agroecology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Zagreb. She completed her Ph.D. in Biotechnology Science, with a focus on Agriculture, Ecology, and Environmental Protection, at the University of Zagreb in collaboration with University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences (BOKU) in 2009. Her research interests include agroecology, soil degradation and protection, environmental analytics (soil, water, plant), instrumental analytical methods (including method validation), phytoremediation and phytoaccumulation of trace elements from contaminated and natural soils, as well as the biogeochemistry of carbon and nitrogen, and soil-related aspects of climate change.

Prof. Dr. Nikola Bilandžija is an Associate Professor at the Division of Agricultural Engineering, Department of Mechanization and Autonomous Systems in Agriculture, University of Zagreb Faculty of Agriculture. He completed his Ph.D. studies with the dissertation titled “The potential of Miscanthus × giganteus species as an energy crop in different technological and environmental conditions” at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Zagreb in 2015. His research interests include agricultural biomass and energy crops, energy use and potential in agriculture, engineering in energy crop cultivation, and engineering in horticultural production.
