Dr. Cassie J. Rowe is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Surgery, Uniformed Services University. She earned her PhD in Behavior, Cognition, and Neuroscience from American University. Dr. Rowe has an interdisciplinary background and training with over 8 years of experience in biological sciences, molecular biology, and neurosciences, with specific training in acute toxicology, neuroendocrinology, traumatic brain injury, blood–brain barrier disruption, cognition, neuroinflammation, and neuro-musculoskeletal injuries. Her current research interest involves the traumatic injury state, specifically neuromuscular extremity trauma and the neurobiological and physiological consequences underlying neuro-related disease conditions/pathologies (trauma-induced brain injury). She is also interested in sex-differences in disease states and the underlying molecular mechanisms of inflammatory pathways that regulate disease onset and progression.

Dr. Thomas A. Davis is the Professor and Vice Chair of Research at the Department of Surgery, University of the Health Sciences. He obtained his Ph.D. from the George Washington University. Dr. Davis has had a long-standing interest in the mechanisms involved in acute cellular and organ injury in inflammatory states such as shock, trauma, and sepsis. His research interests, which are funded by the Department of Defense and USUHS, include stem cell biology, musculoskeletal trauma, heterotopic ossification, muscle fibrosis, tissue regeneration, osseointegration, wound healing and repair, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and combat-related prolonged field care outcomes. He is the author of more than 125 scholarly articles and has delivered presentations worldwide and serves an ad hoc reviewer for numerous journals in his area of research.
