Gaizka Gómez Escudero received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in 2023, and is now working as a lecturer and researcher at the same institution. He worked as a research assistant at the Bilbao School of Engineering (2017–2023). In 2023, he continued at the University of the Basque Country and was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2024. His research topics mainly include: advanced machining, 5-axis CNC toolpath optimization, difficult-to-cut materials, digital manufacturing, the application of mathematical algorithms in manufacturing processes, and Powder Bed Fusion-Laser Beam (PBF-LB) additive manufacturing.
