Dr. Ioannis Karydis is an Associate Professor at the dept. of Informatics, Ionian University, Greece, with a specialisation in Multimedia Content Technologies. He received a BEng in Engineering Science and Technology from Brunel University, UK, in 2000, an MSc in Advanced Methods in Computer Science from Queen Mary University, UK, in 2001, and a PhD in Mining and Retrieval Methods for Acoustic and Symbolic Music Data from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in 2006. From June 2006 to February 2007 he worked as a post-doc researcher in Music Databases at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. From Feb 2007 to Dec 2019, he was an adjunct lecturer and experienced researcher at the dept. of Informatics, Ionian University, Corfu, Greece. From December 2014 to May 2015 he worked as a post-doctoral experienced researcher in the field of Music Information Retrieval at the Institute of Language and Speech Processing, Greece, while from Feb. 2019 to Dec 2019 he was a research associate at the School of Computer Science, Manchester University, UK. His research interests include music databases, music information retrieval (indexing and searching), music mining, music object representation, and cultural informatics.
