Dr. Michael Brauer is a Professor at theĀ School of Population and Public Health,
University of British Columbia and Principal Research Scientist at the
Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation. He completed his ScD in
Environmental Health at Harvard University.
His research focuses on global environmental health,
linkages between the built environment and human health and the health impacts
of a changing climate. He also served on advisory committees to the World
Health Organization, the Climate and Clean Air Coalition, the US National
Academy of Sciences, the Royal Society of Canada and others.
Dr. Silvia Stringhini is an Associate Professor at the School
of Population and Public Health, University of British Columbia. She completed
her PhD studies in Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Paris.
She served as the Head of the Unit of Population Epidemiology in the Geneva
University Hospitals between 2018 and 2023. Her main research areas include social
inequalities in chronic diseases and ageing, the role of health behaviors in
the genesis of social inequalities in health, and the biological consequences
of social inequalities, the role of environmental factors in social
inequalities in health. Moreover, she was actively involved in the COVID19
pandemic response and served in the Swiss National Science COVID19 Task
Force.
