Author Biographies

AHMAD I. ALYAN received a BSc from ALQUDS University, Jerusalem, and an MSc from Ben Gurion University in Beer Shavaa. He is a PhD student at UMPEDAC and is a member of the Faculty of Advanced Studies at the University of Malaya. He works in electricity and computer engineering in Jerusalem and has been a part-time and full-time instructor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Birzeit in the West Bank. His interests include power electronics, renewable energy, energy storage systems, and real-time control systems.
NASRUDIN ABD. RAHIM received a BSc (Hons) and MSc from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, U.K. He received a PhD from Heriot–Watt University, Edinburgh, U.K., in 1995.  He is currently a professor at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he is also the Director of the UM Power Energy Dedicated Advanced Centre (UMPEDAC). He is also a Distinguished Adjunct Professor at the Renewable Energy Research Group, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. His research interests include power electronics, solar PV and wind technologies, real-time control systems, and electrical drives. He is a Fellow at the Institution of Engineering and Technology, U.K., as well as at the Academy of Sciences Malaysia. He is also a chartered engineer in the U.K.
Jeyraj Selvaraj received a BEng (Hons) in electrical engineering from Multimedia University Cyberjaya, Cyberjaya, Malaysia, in 2002; a joint MSc in power electronics and drives from the University of Birmingham, Birmingham, U.K., and the University of Nottingham, Nottingham, U.K., in 2004; and a PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 2009. He is currently an associate professor at the University of Malaya and the deputy director of the university’s Power Energy Dedicated Advanced Centre. His research interests include the solar system, single- and three-phase multilevel inverters, digital current-control techniques, photovoltaic inverters, and DC–DC converters. Dr. Selvaraj is also a member of the working group on solar photovoltaic systems in Malaysia. He was one of the recipients of the NAM Research Training Fellowship for Young Scientists in 2016.
