Prof. Dr. Frank Alexis finished his Ph.D. in Materials Science in 2003 from the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. His doctoral dissertation focused on the mechanisms of drug release and degradation of biodegradable and drug-eluting stents. As a postdoctoral fellow at Brigham and Women's Hospital (Harvard Medical School) in the laboratory of Dr. Omid Farokhzad and a research affiliate at Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2006 to 2009 in the laboratory of Prof. Robert Langer, he developed multiple polymeric nanoparticle technologies. He was listed in Nature Biotechnology as Top Translational Junior Faculty in 2013 and Top 1% scientist cited in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (2020, 2021).
