Dr. Georgina Sandoval holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Guadalajara (Mexico) and a PhD in Biology, Health and Biotechnology from the National Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA) in Toulouse, France. Since 2003, she has worked as a Tenured Researcher at CIATEJ (a Research Center of the Mexican Secretariat for Science, Humanities, Technology and Innovation, SECIHTI), on Industrial Biotechnology, with applications in the fields of Nutraceuticals, Biopolymers, Biofuels, and Bionanotechnology. In 2011, she spent a sabbatical year at the Applied Biocatalysis Lab of the Institute of Catalysis and Petrochemistry (ICP-CSIC) in Madrid, Spain. She founded and is currently in charge of the Advanced Bioprocesses Innovation Laboratory (LIBBA), a laboratory accredited to ASTM and Mexican standards. She has participated in 50 projects and technological services (30 as a leader), including macroprojects that bring together institutions and companies, as well as cooperation projects with France, Spain, and Argentina. She has authored more than 100 publications and 23 patent applications/grants. She has also coordinated actions in the Ibero-American Program of Science and Technology for Development (CYTED). She was recently distinguished for her career with the highest award of the Jalisco State Prize for Innovation, Science and Technology 2021 in the category of Merit for Scientific and Technological Development.
