Areeb Ahmed received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electronics and Communications from the University of Teesside, United Kingdom, in 2012, and the Izmir Institute of Technology, Turkey, in 2018. He is currently a SMASH MSCA Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Computer and Information Science, Slovenia. His academic work has pioneered the development of random communication systems. His main research areas are secure communication systems and cybersecurity, particularly with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. Specifically, he is attempting to develop unconventional noise-based communication systems for future 5G and 6G communication systems to increase the security of biomedical, spatial, molecular, and wireless communication systems. Dr. Areeb Ahmed has published in high-impact journals and presented at conferences, with his work recognized by IEEE Turkey through the Best Research Paper Award in 2018. His other research interests include 5G security, AI for cybersecurity, terahertz communication, and high-performance computing applications in secure communication.
Zoran Bosnić received his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in 2001, 2003, and 2007 from the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Computer and Information Science, Slovenia. Currently, he is employed as a full professor at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Computer and Information Science, Slovenia. His primary research area is artificial intelligence (AI), particularly machine learning and data mining. In his work, he has combined advanced statistical methods with useful application areas, such as mining from data streams, recommender systems, user behavior profiling, medicine, functional programming, e-learning systems, and computer communications. Prof. Bosnić is a (co)author of approximately 50 papers in SCI journals and 25 papers presented at scientific conferences. His awards include the golden plaque for outstanding achievements in research and pedagogical or artistic work from the University of Ljubljana (in 2019) and an honorary diploma for outstanding pedagogical and research achievements from the University of Ljubljana (2012).
